If one slitting line has one slitter head in line, the operator must arrange slitting knives and spacers on line:
-Push the slitting stand of operator side out by hydraulic cylinder
-Install slitting knives, spacers and rubber cushions on double slitting spindles.
-Draw the apart slitting stand back to connect with double spindles and press-down mechanism.
This accessories changing process takes about 2 hours, obviously for busy production plant, time is very valuable, to solve this problem, we have double heads exchangeable slitting machine, we call it “double slitter heads” or “twin slitter heads”.
When one slitter head is slitting in the line, the operator can install knives and spacers on the other slitter head.
The change from one slitter head to the other slitter head: one base rack for twin slitter heads walks on longitudinal rails, the online slitter head walks out on to base rack, the base rack moves the other slitter head exactly facing towards slitter online position, then the other head moves to online position, the exchange takes about 30 minutes.
The double slitter heads can be the same or one is bigger and the other is smaller. The bigger slitter is for bigger thickness slitting while the smaller slitter is suitable for small thickness slitting. In this way, high precision high efficiency performance is achieved.
The twin slitter heads improve the flexibility and efficiency of a slitting line, very popular to the big steel plant who need huge quantities of slit coils.
